Day 1 – Arrival in Iceland
Departure from UK. Pick up the rental car at the airport. Drive to Reykjavik and check in at hotel in the city. Depending on your flight times, you may want to explore Reykjanes, see day 2.
Overnight stay in Reykjavik at Fosshótels or similar 3 star hotel. Option to upgrade to 4 star hotels such as Grand Hotel Reykjavík, Hótel Reykjavík Centrum or Fosshotel Reykjavík.
Day 2 – Reykjanes Peninsula
Explore the Reykjanes Peninsula and stop at the famous Blue Lagoon. If you wish to bathe in the lagoon, please note you must pre-book entry as the lagoon does get fully booked. We can book this for you! The geothermal areas Gunnuhver and Krýsuvík on the peninsula are well worth the visit as well as the picturesque Kleifarvatn lake. Continue to your accommodation in the Golden Circle. Depending on your flights, this is also possible to explore on your arrival day or day of departure.
Stay 3 nights in South Iceland at Hotel Stracta or similar.
Day 3 – Golden Circle
Visit Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot springs and Þingvellir National Park, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Day 4 – The South Shore
Take a tour along the south coast to visit the saga museum at Hvolsvöllur, Skógafoss waterfall and turf farm as well as the endless black sand beach at the town of Vík.
Day 5 – Borgarfjörður
Head west – explore the saga valley Borgarfjörður with its stunning waterfalls, hot springs and historic sites.
Stay 2 nights in West Iceland at Fosshótel Hellnar, Fosshótel Stykkishólmur, Fosshótel Reykholt or similar.
Day 6 – Snæfellsnes peninsula
Explore the Snæfellsnes peninsula, its snow-capped volcano, beautiful coastline, lava fields and bird colonies.
Day 7 – Reykjavik
Drive back to Reykjavík and take a detour via the beautiful Hvalafjörður. Explore and enjoy Iceland’s capital Reykjavik, it is an exciting modern city with lots to see and do. We will send you plenty of suggestions of what to do including the “must see´s in the city. Another option is to drive further to take a bath in the Blue Lagoon.
Overnight in Reykjavík at Fosshótels or similar 3 star hotel. Option to upgrade to 4 star hotels such as Grand Hotel Reykjavík, Hótel Reykjavík Centrum or Fosshotel Reykjavík.
Day 8 - Departure
Depending on your flight time you may want to enjoy Reykjavík in the morning or explore Reykjanes and go to the Blue Lagoon if you have not had a chance to do so yet. The lagoon is ideally located between Reykjavík and Keflavík Airport so great to visit either at the start or end of your holiday.
Drive back to Keflavik airport and return the car. Depart for home.
